Shortly after my admission to PT school in 1970, my father-in-law had a devastating stroke resulting in a relatively dense hemiparesis. Despite my best efforts, finding the right chair & getting it funded was a real struggle. 40 years later, I still see patients struggling to obtain the right mobility equipment.
Since my PT school days, I had a mission: to design a documentation system that would allow the average PT/OT to identify, formulate, configure and fund indicated assistive mobility devices. Over the last 12 years I’ve perfected a set of tools for working with acute rehab patients – The Karevo Documentation System. The KDS uses the data you would normally use to perform a PT or OT evaluation to generate all the documentation necessary to appropriately configure and fund an assistive mobility device.
I’ve seen too many hard working, well-educated and sincerely passionate therapist struggle within the restrictive paradigms of out patient, in-patient, SNF and home health. Practicing in clinical environments that provide little opportunity to spread your professional wings, to generate the income commensurate with your education and clinical skill levels.
